Chesapeake poised to net as much as $3.4B from Utica Shale acreage

Chesapeake Energy Corp. stands to make up to $3.4 billion from two transactions intended to monetize its holdings in Ohio 's Utica Shale, the company announced Thursday.

CEO Aubrey McClendon said the deals will allow Chesapeake to recover more than it spent to acquire its Utica Shale acreage, while almost fully funding its drilling program there for the foreseeable future.
