Chickasaw subsidiary buys part of Lone Star Park racetrack

The Texas Racing Commission on Friday approved a subsidiary of the Chickasaw Nation as one of the new owners of Lone Star Park racetrack in Grand Prairie, Texas.

“The commission believes the new owners have demonstrated a commitment to the track, to the industry and to Texans.”

Drew Shubeck, general manager of Lone Star Park, said the new owners plan to retain all employees and managers and honor existing contracts.

The Chickasaw Nation is based in Ada and is the 13th largest federally recognized tribe in the United States.

Another Chickasaw subsidiary previously purchased Oklahoma City’s Remington Park horse racing track and casino for $80.25 million as part of the Magna Entertainment Corp. bankruptcy case.
