Chile creates human rights watchdog agency
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — President Michelle Bachelet created a government watchdog agency Tuesday to protect human rights in Chile , which is still coming to terms with a military dictatorship that ended two decades ago.
Chile needs the agency to defend its democratic institutions and prevent a repeat of the South American nation's painful history, Bachelet said.
