DALLAS — Since 1981, Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers has been serving one of the best burgers in the Dallas area.
The Chip's menu includes staple items such as cheeseburgers, French fries, and milkshakes. But Chip's also serves a number of other favorites, such as chicken fried steak and fish and chips.
You will not find this restaurant using generic ingredients. Only the best products are used because that is what makes the difference, and no expense is spared for quality.
Little things can mean a lot, and General Manager Dennis Nance knows that well.
"There is not much you can do to a burger," Nance said, "but the difference is (in) the little things, the quality of each little item that goes into it."
The award-winning hamburgers come from patties that are certified Angus beef. When asked what makes The Chip's shakes taste so good, Nance replied: "Milkshakes — no secret there — that's Blue Bell ice cream."
Through the years, a loyal customer base has developed. Customers came as children, grew up and are now bringing their own children. The restaurant has "grown up with the neighborhood," Nance said
This following becomes obvious when you enter the establishment, as it is seldom empty.
Not too long ago, there were two locations. Owners Bill and Lynn Gross found an old fire station off Central Expressway and converted it into a restaurant. They then opened their second location off Lovers Lane and the Dallas Tollway.
About two years ago, the original location closed, but you'll find the same great food at the newer location.
