Tulsa's Voth suspended
The
CHL has suspended
Tulsa's
Curtis Voth for an undetermined amount of games. He threw a punch that broke the jaw of the Blazers'
Tyler Harder last Saturday.
A league source said the suspension will be "for several more games.” Tulsa has 12 regular season games remaining, including Saturday night at the Ford Center, in the final Oklahoma City-Tulsa game this season.
"I can guarantee he won't play Saturday vs. the Blazers,” the source said.
•Blankety-blank goalies: Bossier-Shreveport goaltender John DeCaro now has a CHL-record 10 shutouts this season — not including the shutout in Oklahoma City that DeCaro entered in the first minute of play. Overall, the Mudbugs' DeCaro and Ken Carroll have a league record 16 shutouts and 39-10-4 record.
•All-Star changes: Next year's CHL All-Star Game, at Colorado on a date to be determined, will have a different format. The home team Eagles will play a team of CHL All-Stars.
In a statement, Colorado coach Chris Stewart said: "The change in format is just one aspect of what we hope will bring the CHL All-Star Game to a whole new level of excitement and entertainment for the fans. It will definitely be a more intense and physical game than what the current format (North division vs. South division) dictates.”
•Blazers' opponents' notes: The Tulsa Oilers, who play in Oklahoma City on Saturday night, has lost six of their last eight games. ... The Texas Brahmas, who play in Oklahoma City one week from Sunday, have won 16 of their last 21 games.
