Curious what Choc Beer Co. and the FOAM homebrew club are brewing up for this year’s Wild Brew festival?
Be curious no more. Federal regulators late last week approved a new label for Wild Brew 2014: A Belgian-style stout:
The annual Wild Brew festival is set for Aug. 23 this year.
Choc Beer President Zach Prichard said the new Wild Brew will ship to wholesalers in early June and will be packaged in four-packs of 12 oz. bottles.
Prichard had this to say about the selection of a Belgian-style stout as this year’s style:
“Every year the Wild Brew has had some sort of Belgian influence. In the past year or so we have been brewing, testing and generally drinking a lot of stouts,” Prichard said. “When FOAM suggested we base this year’s beer off FOAM member Mac Butcher’s award-winning foreign export stout recipe, we were very excited. The beer walks a fine line between typical roast character of a stout and the expressive, sometimes fruity Belgian yeast character. It’s a well-attenuated, complex stout.”
Well, sign me up for a bottle or eight.
