Choc Beer Co. this week announced the next beer in its series of Oklahoma Pale Ales. This time, they’re bringing the oats.

Oatmeal OPA is due for a release around the beginning of 2014.

The 6.75% ABV beer calls for a heavy dose of malted oats, including Simpson’s golden naked oats, Choc President Zach Prichard said. The beer is kettle-hopped with Columbus and will get a dose of Galena in the dry-hop. It will check in at 65 IBU.

Expect the beer to be black or near-black, but with no roast character, Prichard said.

It should be available in bottles and kegs.

And on a separate note, I know many have been asking, so I asked Prichard if Choc plans to release a sampler pack of OPAs. He said they have given the idea some consideration, but have no immediate plans to do so.
