CHOCTAW — Children dominated in fishing activities this weekend at Ten Acre Lake, while adults remained on the sidelines.

The Kids’ All American Fishing Derby was Saturday at Ten Acre Lake, NE 10 near Choctaw Road.

Armed with bait and rods, they reeled in their catches hoping to hook the biggest fish during the three-hour derby for ages 16 and under.

Organizer Debbie Green said 140 people participated in the event.

They were grouped based on their age. Numerous prizes were awarded to those who caught the biggest fish and those who had the most fish in their bucket, Green said.

The event was organized by the Choctaw Public Recreation Department and the Choctaw Chamber of Commerce.
