J.R. Coughran, fullback, Choctaw

Q: What game do you look forward to the most on your schedule and why?

A: I look forward to our first game because that is the first time we can test our skills in a live game situation. I am really anxious for it.

What has been your favorite moment thus far while playing high school football?

My favorite moment had to be against PC North our freshman year. We won in the final seconds. I helped seal the block for the winning touchdown. It was a pretty exciting moment.

Who is your sports hero and why?

It would have to be Larry Csonka. I try to emulate him as much as I can when I am running the ball. I like watching his highlights and stuff. That was when I first got the idea to play fullback from Larry Csonka. I read about him in the book when I was in the fourth grade. I used to like reading a bunch of football books when I was in elementary school because I couldn't play football. I wasn't allowed to play football until the sixth grade because of seizures. When I was 5, I had a seizure and the doctor was afraid if I played football and I would get a shot to the head, I would go home and fall asleep and then have another one. I was the water boy for a long time. I got to play in the sixth grade and have played ever since.

What is the football drill that you hate the most and why?

Gassers. It's where you get on one of the sidelines and you run down and back. That equals one gasser. It's pretty tough. When we are in trouble is when we have to do them. The other day we had to do about eight of them. It was pretty exhausting.
