The choice between the two parties in the coming election couldn’t be any more clear. The path we take will affect the rest of my life and the lives of my children. I ask voters to consider the stakes. The very soul of what it means to be an American is in question. The very nature of our society — the social contract we choose to enter with one another — will be shaped in this election. The two competing forces are mutually exclusive: the duty of society to more actively seek equalized outcomes through the surrender of individual rights and responsibilities, versus the idea that man’s station in life should be based roughly on the aggregation of his God-given talents and the cumulative amount of hard work he employs.
This latter option of course, allows for greater freedoms but may lead to unequal income and suffering through bad decisions or complacency. These two paths can’t exist together. We must choose our direction. We should choose the latter and do all that we can do to defeat the former.
