Christmas Day meals offered

Food baskets and community dinners are among the free offerings during the holiday week in central Oklahoma.

Several free Christmas Day meals are planned in the Oklahoma City area for those in need this year. Following is a list of those events:

• Red Andrews Christmas Dinner: 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cox Convention Center. The turkey dinner will be served until about 3 p.m. or until all have eaten. Every child that attends will get a toy and a visit with Santa. Children's activities such as face painting will also be offered.

• Norman Christmas Day Community Dinner: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Norman High School Commons, 911 W Main St. Turkey dinner with all the trimmings, toys for children and a visit from Santa Claus are scheduled.

• City Rescue Mission Christmas Banquet: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, 800 W California Ave.

• Jesus House Christmas Meal: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, 1335 W Sheridan Ave.

• Jesus House winter break grocery box distribution: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 1335 W Sheridan Ave. For families with school-aged children to help get through the winter school break. Bring photo ID and utility bill. Children must accompany parent or guardian, or parents should bring progress report or report card for each child.
