Christmas Eve crashes claim two lives in Oklahoma

Two people died after separate vehicle wrecks on Christmas Eve, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Kathrine Fairchild, 48, Blackwell

About 8:45 p.m., Fairchild was driving a sport utility vehicle west on Hubbard Road, about 2 miles east of Blackwell. The car was crossing an icy bridge when it slid off the road and rolled over, troopers said. Fairchild died at the scene.

There were two passengers, Stormie Fairchild, 16, of Blackwell, who was critically injured, and Cliffton Fairchild, 13, of Blackwell, who was not hurt, troopers said.

Kathrine Fairchild was the only one wearing a seat belt.

Luther Wynn, 67, Mangum

About 6:45 p.m., Wynn was driving west on U.S. 283, about a mile east of Mangum. The pickup he was driving left the road and rolled onto its top, troopers said.

Wynn died at a hospital about 1:30 a.m. on Christmas Day, troopers said.

He was not wearing a seat belt.
