A new scene depicting the Parable of the Lost Sheep was added to the pageant this year, said Brent Thackerson, Boys Ranch Town director. There will be 10 depictions in the pageant this year.

“People can drive through all 10 scenes,” Thackerson said. “They can stay in their cars and be warm and cozy.”

Pageant hours will be from 7 to 9 each night, Friday through Sunday.

The pageant has a variety of live animals being raised by boys who live at the ranch. Camels, sheep, a lamb, donkey, llama and a duck are all scheduled to be in the show.

All 44 boys living at the ranch will participate in the pageant. Three who have gone off to college are returning to help.

Cold weather forecast for part of the weekend isn't expected to stop the nightly performances. People can call 341-3606 to hear a message about the status of the pageant each night.

“We hardly ever miss,” Thackerson said. “We know it is going to be cold, and we just deal with it. If it turns icy and dangerous, we might have to cancel.”

The show is free, but Boys Ranch Town accepts donations.

“But that's not why we do it,” Thackerson said. “This is one of our ways we give back to a lot of our friends, donors and supporters. It is our gift to the community.”

Boys Ranch Town is a 145-acre working ranch at 5100 SE 33rd St. in Edmond. It opened in 1953.
