The Latta Panthers weren't perfect in their 65-41 win over the Chouteau Wildcats, but senior Jake Collins was, at least from the field. The Panther big man was 8 for 8 shooting including a 3-pointer and was 8 for 9 from the free throw line to give him a season high 25 points. Collins' first and only miss on the night came on the second of two free throws with 7:41 left in the fourth quarter.
“I have never had a night like that before,” Collins said after the game. “It was just one those magical nights. I was just focused on the next possession and trying to get us one step closer to victory.”
Latta junior Brady Johnson was 5 for 7 from the field with three 3-pointers. Johnson and Collins helped the Panthers to a 39-20 halftime lead. Chouteau fought their way back, cutting Latta's lead to 48-41 in the fourth quarter before Panther guard Kade Hayes nailed two consecutive 3-pointers to put the game away.
