This time around, Northeast finished what it couldn't quite do last year.

With 12 points from C.J. Jones and 11 from Caleb Crayton, the top-ranked Northeast Vikings powered past No. 5 Haworth for a 73-45 win in the Class 2A boys state basketball championship game at State Fair Arena.

The Vikings, runners-up in Class 3A a year ago, fought through a back-and-forth game for more than half the game. But a 12-0 run in the third quarter turned a 31-30 deficit into a 42-31 advantage, and Northeast never looked back.

Northeast (24-5) used its deep bench and wealth of quickness to wear down the Lions (25-5). Austen Harris scored 10 points, while Crayton had eight rebounds and a monster dunk on a putback.

Shawndale Pina scored all of his six points as the Vikings were taking control of the game. Jones scored eight of his 12 in the second half as well. Omarkio Collins and Tyus Johnson had eight points apiece as seven Vikings scored at least six points in the game.
