— Oklahoma Christian School now has an opportunity to do something the school has never done before, win a state championship in football.

The Saints advanced to the Class 2A title game Friday night by crushing Frederick, 55-32, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Saints quarterback Austin Brooks tossed four touchdown passes, two to his talented wide receiver Blake Barnes, as OCS outscored the state's highest-scoring team in Frederick.

The Bombers had no answer for the Brooks-to-Barnes combination. Brooks was 16 of 21 in the game for 397 yards while Barnes had seven catches for 211 yards receiving.

“Phenomenal,” OCS coach Derek Turner said of the pair. “When they get together, they are formidable.

“They are so good at what they do. They just know each other. They are so athletic. It's just a great thing to watch them play.”

The 6-3 Barnes made the biggest plays of the game.

His interception at the OCS 5 stopped a Frederick scoring drive in the first quarter. Two plays later, Brooks hit Barnes in stride down the sideline for a 95-yard touchdown pass for the first score of the game.

Then with OCS leading 20-7 after Frederick had just scored to gain some momentum, Barnes out-leaped the Bomber secondary on a 40-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass on the last play of the half.

OCS went 75 yards in just 28 seconds as Brooks was 5-of-5 passing on the drive, including three completions to Barnes.

“I just played a little basketball,” Barnes said of the Hail Mary pass. “I think that got our momentum going for the second half.”
