Standlee was brought down just short of the goal line, and Millwood held on to a 7-6 lead.
“We always talk about how we have to have character in the fourth quarter,” Franklin said. “You're going to get hit with adversity and how you respond is going to define how far you're going to go. We had plenty of opportunities to respond negatively tonight and we didn't do it. That's why we came out on top.”
Millwood (13-0) was without standouts Alfonzo McMillian (WR/DB) and Quincy Dotson (TE/DE). McMillian was ejected during a second-round win last week, making him ineligible to play this week. Dotson was out because of a violation of team rules.
The Falcons advance to face Hartshorne in the Class 2A semifinals next week.
“These kids come out and work everyday,” Franklin said. “They keep working and doing everything they're supposed to do. It's just been awesome. We really needed this.”
