— Millwood senior Janari Glover wants to go out with a ring.

The star sprinter wants it every bit as much for his school as he does for himself.

A track state title would give Millwood’s talented senior class their first in a boys’ sport this school year. The Falcons finished runner-up in football and lost in the semifinals in basketball despite being the favorites to win both championships.

“We use the losses from basketball and football to motivate us,” Glover said. “It’s all the same people hanging around and supporting each other in all those sports, so that really pushes myself and my teammates.”

His performance in the Class 2A state track tournament on Friday at Carl Albert has put him in position to help collect a lot of points for his team on Saturday. The Falcons currently sit in fourth with 22 points, two behind leader Frederick.

In the preliminaries, Glover posted the top times of 10.87 seconds in the 100 and 22.23 in the 200. He’s also part of the Falcons’ 400 relay team — with Alfonzo McMillian, Micah Sanders, and Chris Cohen — which registered the top time of the preliminaries at 43.04.
