Class 3A girls basketball: Adair beats Sequoyah-Tahlequah

The Lady Warriors (28-0) never trailed in racing to a 17-10 first quarter lead then dominated the second quarter, outscoring Sequoyah-Tahlequah 21-7 to build a 21-point halftime lead.

“I thought we played good. I thought we ran the floor well,” Adair coach Scott Winfield said. “We've played that way throughout the year. We are capable of playing that way.

“They didn't played scared. That's what I like. If you come down here and don't play scared, you are usually going to win.”

Molly Kerr had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Adair as the Lady Warriors now face top-ranked and unbeaten Sulphur in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. at State Fair Arena.

“I think it's a good matchup,” Winfield said. “I think we are alike in a lot of ways. I hope we come out on top, but they're awful good.”

The top four ranked girls' teams in Class 3A remain alive and three are unbeaten: No. 1 Sulphur, No. 2 Perkins-Tryon and Adair. Millwood (24-4) is ranked third and the defending state champs.
