“We didn't play very well,” he said. “Jitters? I don't know what it was. We got to see when we got mismatches inside and we didn't do that today.”

Perkins will meet another team that likes to get up and down the floor on Friday in third-ranked and defending state champ Millwood, which defeated Verdigris 54-47 in its quarterfinal contest.

“They are gong to run, run, run and they have guards who are way more willing to pressure you than those guys (Hugo),” said Gorham, who has signed with Oklahoma Christian University.

Burnett said the Lady Demons will have to play much better to defeat Millwood.

“We are going to throw some wrinkles at them and see what happens,” he said.

Perkins completed its first undefeated regular season this year, and the club can make history again by winning its first state championship in girls basketball. The Lady Demons were state runners-up in 1997.

“This bunch still has something to prove,” Burnett said. “We got to take another step and win tomorrow.”
