— Jared Price didn't want his brothers to have the advantage.

The Carl Albert senior infielder was a key part of the 2012 championship team, but his older brothers Jordan and Caleb had won titles on the 2007 and 2009 teams.

Faced with the chance of equaling his brothers, Jared Price dealt the decisive blow Saturday afternoon in the form of a go-ahead, two-run double in the fifth inning to propel the second-ranked Titans' 4-2 victory over No. 1 Claremore at Edmond Santa Fe in the Class 5A state championship.

“I knew I had to leave it all out there just so I could represent my name and live up to my role models and stuff like that,” Price said.

Carl Albert (34-3) becomes the first school to repeat as the Class 5A champion since Edmond won back-to-back titles in 1992 and 1993.

“We knew on the outset that it was going to be difficult because it's really competitive and it hadn't happened very often, so we had our work cut out,” Carl Albert coach Wayne Dozier said. “To win two in a row it takes about twice as much effort and hard work as it did the year before.”

It also took the Titans beating the Zebras for the second straight season in the title game. Last season, Carl Albert won 6-2.

Claremore (30-5) fell behind early last season, but jumped to a 2-0 lead Saturday in the first inning as Carl Albert starter Chevin Noone struggled to settle in.
