Class 5A volleyball: No. 1 Heritage Hall rolls to semifinals

Heritage Hall (25-2) has seven underclassmen on its roster, but their lack of experience didn't show. The Chargers will face Christian Heritage Academy on Saturday.

TRACY LEADS CHRISTIAN HERITAGE PAST TROJANS

Senior Elizabeth Tracy recorded nine kills in No. 4 Christian Heritage Academy's 3-0 victory against No. 5 Oklahoma Bible Academy. Six of Tracy's kills came in the first set of the match.

Tracy is looking forward to competing in the semifinal match against Heritage Hall.

 “We're gonna work hard,” she said. “We're going to leave everything on the court.”

 

TULSA WASHINGTON BATTLES BACK TO EARN SEMIFINAL BERTH

Shawnee started its quarterfinal game against No. 2 Tulsa Washington (30-9) firing on all cylinders. But junior Laura Bateman and the Hornets overpowered the seventh-ranked Wolves (24-11) to earn a pass to Day 2 of the state tournament.

On her birthday, Bateman recorded 18 kills in the match.

“It was a big confidence booster for tomorrow,” she said.

 

CASCIA HALL DROPS CATOOSA

No. 3 Cascia Hall knocked off No. 6 Catoosa (27-11) in straight sets. Cascia Hall (26-6) coach Jenny Duncan was pleased with her players' performance.

Duncan hopes her team can take its momentum into its semifinal.

“We came out and did what we needed to do,” Duncan said. “We played with minimal unforced errors and played at our own speed.”
