Edmond North's top two players, Hayden Wood and Nick Heinen, are members at Karsten Creek in Stillwater. Wood even went as far as to say the pair “grew up here some” because of the amount of times they've played that course.

After Monday's first two rounds, Wood and Heinen are two parts of a three-way tie for first place in the individual standings at an even 144. Has that course familiarity given them an advantage in the state tournament?
Maybe not.
“I'm so used to playing it with the greens so fast,” Wood said. “Now they're slow. You think that some of the putts are just going to run away from you, but they're just so slow now, (so) that kids can finish. The course is great, and it always is.”
MEMORIAL MOTIVATION
Edmond Memorial coach Scott McDonald walked outside the Karsten Creek clubhouse after most of the players and families had left and simply stared at the leader board.
What he saw was a group in great position after the first round, with the lowest team score (296) and with two players that had shot even or better in Taylor Moore (72) and Ty Tamura (71).
But the second round got away from Memorial. There was a 13-stroke difference in team score and two players that shot above 80.
