> This wasn’t the first title for the Putnam City seniors, but it was the first that truly belonged to them.

The other came in 2006, their freshman year, with Henry already showing flashes of his emerging stardom but Keith Clark leading the way for the Pirates.

It was the fourth title in school history. The others came in 1972 and 2002.

Jenks was shooting for its first boys basketball title.

Garen Wright finished with 14 while Tyler Earls added 13.

Bryson Pope led Jenks with 18 while Doug McKnight had 13.

The game got heated in the second half, with some shoving going on near mid-court at one point in the third quarter. There were no fouls called on that incident but the game did feature three technical fouls.

The first was on Putnam City coach A.D. Burtschi less than halfway through the fourth quarter. Putnam City’s Earls was called for a technical following warmups for the second half and Jenks’ Brian Brookey was called for one late in the third following a fouldby another Trojan on Henry.
