NORMAN — The talented Norman North girls soccer team turned in one of its most dominant performances on Friday with a state championship on the line.
The Timberwolves claimed the Class 6A state title, the school’s first ever, with a commanding 3-0 victory over Edmond Memorial at OU.
“I’m just really, really proud of everyone because we worked so hard and earned this,” said forward Lexi Carroll. “At halftime, we talked about wanting to show people how dominant we are (in the second half). A 1-0 lead is very risky. We knew we didn’t want to let them keep it close.”
Carroll opened the scoring in first half off an assist from Francesca Ryan. Carroll made her presence known again in the second half when her corner kick found Hannah Livingston with just over 30 minutes remaining to extend the Timberwolves’ lead to 2-0.
Norman North (15-2) put it away as forward Haley Woodard broke away from her defender, drew the keeper out, and snuck a third goal into the net with just over 18 minutes to play.
