Edmond Memorial finishes perfect season
With tears streaming down her face, Edmond Memorial senior Kylie Bollenbach embraced teammate Aubree Vaughan as she finished her last hole Thursday at the Class 6A girls state golf championships.

Bollenbach knew her team had just put the finishing touches on a perfect season.

Edmond Memorial beat defending champion Jenks by 24 strokes to win its 11th tournament in as many events and claim its first girls golf title. Four of Edmond Memorial's five starters finished in the top 10 individually. Junior Mary Larsh posted a final-round 76, the second-lowest score Thursday.

"I was really nervous,” Larsh said. "There were times when I was shaking over some putts. But the hard work finally paid off.”

•Fighting back: Norman North senior Kaitlin Higginbotham made a triple bogey on the sixth hole Thursday, but she made two birdies in the final three holes to shoot 6-over 77 and finish as runner-up. Higginbotham hit approach shots to within five feet to set up both birdies.

"I made two doubles and a triple this week,” she said. "I was 5-over on the sixth hole alone. Those holes will stick out in my mind, but I can't complain with second place.”
