Class 6A state championship: Jenks routs Norman North, wins first state title since 2007

The result?

Another win for the East, this one a 55-20 Jenks victory over Norman North in front of an estimated 15,000 at Boone Pickens Stadium on Friday night.

It was Jenks' 13th state title overall and first since 2007.

The Trojans did it after starting the season 0-2.

“I've had years when it was a relief to get it over with after we won,” Jenks coach Allan Trimble said. “This is not relief. It's pure joy. This was the epitome of teamwork. It was fun to be a part of.”

Trimble became the first coach in state history to win 10 championships as a head coach.

The West — or anyone not named Jenks or Tulsa Union for that matter — still has not won a 6A title since 1995.

Barr'e ran for 292 yards and three touchdowns with four runs of 35 yards or more.

“I saw him do it every week in the playoffs,” Norman North coach Wade Standley said of Barr'e.

It was a rough start for the senior, who fumbled on the game's first play. But after Jenks forced a punt, Barr'e made up for it with an 87-yard run to set up Jenks' first score and the Trojans never looked back.

“My O-line's had a beautiful year,” Barr'e said. “I couldn't ask any more of them.”
