Class 6A state championship notebook: Second-half spark not enough for Norman North
Timberwolves never gave up despite trailing 41-7 at halftime.
Coming out of halftime down 41-7 to one of Class 6A's football giants, little was expected of Norman North in the final 24 minutes.
But the Timberwolves showed they weren't finished fighting against Jenks, reeling off a few big pass plays to score two quick touchdowns and cut the lead to 41-20.

But Jenks retook control on its way to a 55-20 state championship victory Friday night at Boone Pickens Stadium.
“Our guys continued to fight,” Norman North coach Wade Standley said. “At halftime, we just said we've got to go win one play at a time and I felt like we did that. I'm proud of that.”
Norman North quarterback Peyton Gavras threw touchdown passes to Jake Higginbotham and Payton Prince, and the defense forced a pair of Jenks punts before the Trojans ultimately regained control of the game.
DIRECTV DROPS 6A BROADCAST
Many DirecTV subscribers were unhappy to find that the 6A title game was not being carried by the provider Friday night, as previously advertised by Fox Sports.
Fox released a statement during the second half of the game, relaying information from DirecTV, which cited a “bandwidth issue” as the reason the broadcast was dropped.
“DirecTV informed us yesterday (Thursday) they wouldn't be able to carry Friday's game due to bandwidth issues,” the Fox statement said. “We regret their decision to drop the telecast and the inconvenience it caused their customers to miss the game. DirecTV has assured us they will carry Saturday's OSSAA championship games on channel 680.”
