Okarche had little trouble with Turner on Friday evening.

The No. 2 Lady Warriors dominated from the outset, beating the Lady Falcons 62-24 in the Class A semifinals at State Fair Arena.

Okarche (28-3) will play the winner of Friday night’s game between Cheyenne/Reydon and Kiowa at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at State Fair Arena.

It will be Okarche’s ninth state-championship game appearance.

Cheyenne/Reydon beat Okarche in the area championship game.

“Most definitely we want another shot at them,” Okarche coach Cherie Myers said. “We don’t care who it is, we’re ready to play in the championship game but it would be nice to get another shot at them. We learned a lot from that game.”

The Lady Warriors have won four titles, the last in 2010. Okarche also won titles in 1981, 1982 and 2000.

Turner’s season ends 28-5.

Madison Lee led Okarche with 24 points, Morgan Vogt added 19 and Kenadey Grellner scored 12.

The Lady Warriors led by double digits by the end of the first quarter despite the game going scoreless for the first four minutes.

By halftime, Okarche led 34-10 and by early in the third, three Lady Warriors had scored at least as many points as Turner had scored as a team.

Myers wasn’t entirely pleased with her team’s performance in its 57-47 win over Sterling in Thursday’s opening round.

The difference against Turner was Okarche’s defensive pressure from the outset that led to opportunities on the other end.

“We were just communicating so much better,” Vogt said. “When we talk sometimes, we tend to just stand around and with the three of us up top working the way we were working today, we’re really dangerous.”
