Class B boys: No. 2 Arnett cruises past No. 12 Burlington

Second-ranked Arnett scored the first eight points of the game and cruised to an easy 56-32 win over No. 12 Burlington in a first-round game Thursday of the Class B boys state basketball tournament at State Fair Arena.

Arnett returns only two starters — Tune and Trevor Bryant — from last year's team which lost in the state championship game to Forgan, 73-39.

Burlington (25-6) was led by Brandon Gosselin with 14 points. Burlington had to play Wednesday in the area consolation finals in Enid because last weekend's blizzard in northwest Oklahoma forced the area tournament to be postponed and moved from its original site.

But Burlington coach Randy Turney said that didn't make any difference in Thursday's game.

“Arnett is better when we are,” he said. “We hung with them for about 2 1/2 quarters. I think we got a little bit tired, but I think we could play 10 times and they would win 10 times because they are better than we are.”
