Class B girls: Shyli May helps Erick edge Timberlake

Severin, though, drew a foul with 4.1 seconds remaining. She made the first free throw, but missed the second. She was able to somehow come up with a steal and get off a last-ditch 3-pointer, but missed.

“It’s kind of a blur to me,” Janz said. “I can’t really tell you what happened (in that sequence).”

May led Erick with 11 points and Makenzie Kelly added 10, all of which came in the second half.

Erick led 37-30 early in the fourth before Timberlake went on a 9-0 run to take only its second lead of the game. Kelly, though, buried a trey with 1:56 remaining to take the lead for good.

“At first I was starting to panic, but I realized that we usually come back pretty easy,” May said.

Timberlake’s Bailee Clift led all scorers with 18 points.
