Class C notebook: Can anyone beat Shattuck?

Can anyone beat Shattuck?
The honest answer is probably not. Shattuck has won six straight games for good reason. They have an established way of doing things as evidenced by their state-record 91-game win streak that is among the best in the nation, regardless of classification. Shattuck is undefeated this season after losing starting quarterback Cade Young to an ACL injury before the season started. That alone shows how dangerous Shattuck can be.

Best first-round game
There are a couple. Tipton (8-2) and Boise City (7-3) face each other in the first round. Tipton has a 1,000-yard rusher in Kendall Luckett, who averaged more than 11 yards per carry in the regular season. Boise City has Reed Gore, who has under a thousand yards on the ground but is also a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield, something most eight-man teams don’t do a lot of. Boise City has played a tough schedule this year, hanging with Shattuck for awhile in a 48-24 loss in Week 2, but also comes in after losing its final game of the season to Forgan.
Players to watch
Covington-Douglas running back Dylan Sterling has 1,000 yards rushing and more than 350 yards receiving. Boise City quarterback Trey Sparkman has 1,200 yards passing and 14 touchdowns. Opposing skill players should watch out for Maud linebacker Jordy Garren, who has 170 tackles and four sacks. On offense, he has 800 yards rushing and 10 scores.
