Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden: 'I want to play football and be at a place where it's enjoyable'

Brandon Weeden called his first two NFL seasons a “roller coaster.”

He called the constant turnover of the Cleveland Browns during his brief time with the organization a “tough situation.”

So, what does Weeden ultimately hope his NFL future holds?

“I want to play football,” Weeden said at OU Medical Center Friday morning, where he was on hand to celebrate the introduction of a new pediatric heart surgeon. “I don't care. I just want to play football and be at a place where it's enjoyable and we can compete and win games. That's really what it's all about.”

Weeden's future with the Browns was already in question, following two seasons plagued by injury and inconsistent-to-poor play for a struggling franchise that overhauled its front office and coaching staff following Weeden's rookie year and then fired coach Rob Chudzinski after just one season. In 23 career games, Weeden has completed 55.9 percent of his passes for 5,116 yards, 23 touchdowns and 26 interceptions, while his 70.3 passer rating ranked 46th in the NFL in 2013.

Then, the Browns fired general manager Michael Lombardi and CEO Joe Banner earlier this week, causing more upheaval inside the organization and outside criticism that the Browns are in total disarray.
