NORMAN — Cleveland County detectives are investigating the death of a woman who spent her final hours in the Cleveland County jail.
The woman was arrested on Moore city warrants by Moore police and was booked into the jail Saturday night, Moore police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said.
The woman was deemed medically fit to be jailed by the jail’s medical staff and was put in a cell by herself, said Meghan McCormick, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Jail officials found the woman unresponsive about 4:30 a.m. Sunday and conducted first aid until paramedics arrived. Paramedics took the woman to a Norman hospital where she was pronounced dead, McCormick said.
The body has been released to the state medical examiner’s office and detectives are investigating the woman’s death, she said.
The woman’s name will be released after family notifications have been made, McCormick said.
