NORMAN — The Cleveland County Junior Livestock Show opens Wednesday and will continue through Friday at the fairgrounds, 601 E Robinson St.
Youth ranging in age from 9 to 19 will exhibit cattle, swine, sheep, goats and chickens.
This is the second year chickens have been in the show, said 4-H educator Justin McConaghy.
The market broiler trio allows students who do not have a large amount of space for a grazing animal or money to feed a larger animal a chance to participate in the show, McConaghy said.
Each child participating in the broiler show was given 25 baby chicks in January. They will choose their best three chickens to exhibit.
Swine will be exhibited beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Thursday's exhibits begin at 10 a.m. with lambs, goat and sheep scheduled through 12:30 p.m. The market broiler trio show will be at 5 p.m., followed by beef at 6 p.m.
Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by a bonus auction at 7 p.m.
