Cleveland County man dies while burning trash

A Cleveland County man died this afternoon after trying to burn trash on his land near Slaughterville, officials said. The trash fire apparently got out of control and the man died trying to extinguish it, Slaughterville Fire Chief Paul Long said.

Fire officials from Slaughterville and Cedar Country Fire Department responded to the fire and still were on the scene investigating at 4:30 p.m.

About an acre of land burned before the fire was extinguished, officials said.
