LONDON (AP) — Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen says United States striker Clint Dempsey has undergone a medical test and is set to return to the club on loan.

Dempsey scored 50 goals in 184 league matches for Fulham from 2007-12 but left for Tottenham before moving to the Seattle Sounders in August.

The 30-year-old Dempsey could play for two months from January because the MLS season does not resume until the second week in March.

Meulensteen says "Clint will be a boost for us."
