The management of City Nights, the nightclub where 16-year-old Timothy Mooreland was fatally shot early Sunday, is closing the establishment in light of “this recent tragedy and the wishes of the victim’s family,” according to a statement issued through the club’s attorney.

The statement, e-mailed to The Oklahoman shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, does not say when it will close.
The statement also contains a message for Mooreland’s family.
“We grieve the loss of your child and would like to express our deepest condolences to your family in this terrible and painful time,” the statement reads.
The statement says the club has a security staff of 23 people who pat down patrons and check identification. Mooreland used a friend’s identification card to gain access to the club, which patrons must be at least 18 to enter, police said.
The statement does not say how many security people were working the night of the shooting.
The club has sustained “significant financial losses” because of increased security measures, according to the statement, rendering continued operation of the club “untenable.”
Phone and e-mail messages left for the attorney who issued the statement, Ari Varshosaz, were not immediately returned late Tuesday. City Nights managers have not responded to messages seeking comment.
