Northerly winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected and frequent gusts over 40 mph will occur through western Oklahoma. Wind chills are likely to remain 5 to 10 degrees colder than air temperatures through mid-evening.

A stretch of chilly weather should last through Saturday morning with low temperatures dipping into the 20s and possibly teens each morning.

Skies today are expected to be mostly cloudy, with a slight chance of rain and snow in the Panhandle through north-central Oklahoma and a slight chance of rain in central eastern sections. Highs are likely to reach the 40s and 50s. Lows should tumble into the teens and 20s tonight.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected Thursday through Sunday with highs ranging from the 30s in the Panhandle to the low 50s in southeastern Oklahoma, forecasters said.

A wind advisory is effective until 3 p.m. today for Alfalfa, Beckham, Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Garfield, Grant, Greer, Harmon, Harper, Jackson, Kay, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Major, Roger Mills, Washita, Woods and Woodward counties.

A wind advisory means sustained winds between 25 and 39 mph and/or gusts up to 57 mph are expected, which may make driving difficult.
