In 2000, in partnership with Koos Manufacturing, he launched the AG Adriano Goldschmied label — a brand that continues to be a player in the premium denim market more than a decade later. Goldschmied is no longer affiliated with his namesake label, having exited the partnership in 2004. And in 2007, he sold Goldsign to Huntington Park, Calif.-based premium denim label Citizens of Humanity, but he continues to serve as its creative director.

Goldsign for J. Crew is just one in a string of high-profile denim collaborations on tap early this year. Christopher Kane and J. Brand teamed for the Resort 2012 collection currently in stores. For spring 2013, Peter Som and Earnest Sewn have gotten together for a seven-piece, floral-print collection; Mary Katrantzou is partnering with Current/Elliott on a smorgasbord of popping prints and bold patterns; and Levi’s is collaborating with Liberty of London on denim enhanced with an exclusive floral pattern.

And with its new “Stylist Series,” AG Adriano Goldschmied is taking a slightly different approach to creative cross-pollination by tapping stylists instead of designers. The first 14-piece collection, created by celebrity stylist Cher Coulter — whose client list includes Nicole Richie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kate Bosworth — was scheduled to debut Wednesday (Jan. 30).
