College baseball: Cowboys, Sooners lose series finales

Louie Lechich pitched well and batted well Sunday, leading San Diego to a 7-0 college baseball win over Oklahoma State at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.

Lechich threw a complete game, allowing just six hits and striking out nine. At the plate, he was 3 for 5 with an RBI.

San Diego (10-4) won two of three games in the series. OSU (11-4) was shut out for the first time this season.

Zach Fish led the Cowboys with two hits. San Diego had 15 hits, all singles, against seven different pitchers.

OSU will host Wichita State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds Stadium.

RUTGERS DOWNS SOONERS

Vinny Zarillo had four hits and three RBIs to help Rutgers beat Oklahoma 8-6 on Sunday at Mitchell Park in Norman.

OU (11-5) had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth, but Rutgers coach Joe Litterio brought in closer Jon Young, who retired the next two Sooners on pop flies.

Mac James led the Sooners with four hits, including a home run.

OU next plays 7 p.m. Tuesday against Texas-Arlington at the Ballpark in Arlington, which is home of the Texas Rangers.
