Matt Oberste extended his hit streak, and Jonathan Gray pitched a complete game Thursday as Oklahoma whipped Kansas 12-1 in Big 12 baseball at Mitchell Park in Norman.

Oberste's three-run homer extended his hit streak to a school-record 28 games, breaking the previous mark set in 1991 by Marty Neff. Oberste complemented Craig Aikin and Kolby Carpenter, who each added three RBIs as OU improved to 24-4 overall and 4-0 in the Big 12.

Gray was exceptional on the mound. He gave up a run on two hits and no walks. Gray struck out 12.

Kansas fell to 14-10 and 2-2.

The series continues at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

LONGHORNS DOWN COWBOYS

Jeremy Montalbano's home run proved to be the difference Thursday as Texas outlasted Oklahoma State 8-5 in Big 12 baseball at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater. Texas (16-9 overall, 2-2 Big 12) scored four runs in the fourth inning, keyed by a three-run blast from Montalbano. That helped the Longhorns recover from a 3-2 deficit, and they would not trail again.

Aaron Cornell, Zach Fish and Victor Romero had two hits apiece for Oklahoma State (19-6, 1-2). Starting pitcher Jason Hursh struggled, giving up eight runs (six earned) on 13 hits in seven innings.

The teams will play the second game of the series at 7 p.m. Friday.
