College baseball: No. 17 Oklahoma sweeps Northwestern State
Sooners roll to 8-3 victory on Sunday, completing the weekend sweep and winning their fifth straight game.
Junior Matt Oberste continued hitting and No. 17 Oklahoma completed a weekend sweep of Northwestern State on Sunday with an 8-3 victory at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Oberste went 4 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored, extending his hitting streak to 24 games dating back to last season. The streak is the third longest in Oklahoma history.
The Sooners (17-4) have now won five straight.
Redshirt freshman Adam Choplick struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. Freshman left-hander Jacob Evans pitched the final 2 1/3 innings for his third save this season.
Oklahoma totaled 11 hits for the second straight game and capitalized on five errors from Northwestern State (9-13).
The Sooners took the lead early with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI groundout by Max White, who also doubled and scored three times. Oklahoma later extended its lead to 3-0 in the third and made it 5-0 in the fifth.
