College baseball: OSU shuts out Iona; Sooners hold off Northwestern State

The sophomore right-hander had a career-high 10 strikeouts and allowed only four hits, all singles, and no walks.

Randy McCurry went 3-for-4 for OSU (14-3).

Eddie Macaluso (0-4) took the loss for Iona (2-14).

The teams meet again in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Sooners hold off Northwestern State

OU junior right-hander Jonathan Gray struck out a career-high 12 in a complete-game effort to help the No. 17-ranked Oklahoma baseball team to a 1-0 victory Friday over Northwestern State in the opener of a three-game weekend series at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Sooners' lone run came on Matt Oberste's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

OU (15-4) and Northwestern State (9-11) will meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The game will be televised on FoxCollege Sports.
