College baseball roundup: Cowboys win to even series with Texas

Oklahoma State evened its series with No. 10-ranked Texas with a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas.

With the win, the No. 9 Cowboys (30-13, 12-5 Big 12) kept their spot atop the Big 12 standings.

Craig McConaughy got things started in the sixth inning for OSU by singling with two outs, with Donnie Walton eventually driving him in with what proved to be the winning run.

The Cowboys’ Alex Hackerott (2-1) got the victory in relief, with Brendan McCurry earning his 12th save of the season.

RED RAIDERS ROUT SOONERS

The No. 21 Texas Tech baseball team used a 10-run fifth inning to rout Oklahoma 14-4 on Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock, Texas.

It was the fourth loss in a row for the Sooners (25-18, 5-9 Big 12).

Kolbey Carpenter and Hector Lorenzana each went 2 for 3 for the Sooners with an RBI apiece.

Red Raiders left-hander Chris Sadberry (4-1) pitched 7 1/3 innings to get the win.

OU left-hander Jacob Evans (3-3) took the loss, giving up seven hits and six earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.

The series finale is set for noon Sunday.
