College baseball roundup: Sooners sweep doubleheader; Texas Tech snaps OSU's winning streak

The Oklahoma baseball team swept Cal State Bakersfield in Saturday’s doubleheader, winning 17-4 and 4-3.

After falling behind 4-0 in the opener, OU scored 17 unanswered runs, including a 10-run seventh inning that included triples from Hunter Haley and Sheldon Neuse and home runs from Neuse and Austin O’Brien.

Neuse added another home run in the eighth inning to finish the first game 3-for-6 with eight RBI. He also pitched the top of the ninth inning, giving up no runs and striking out one.

OU senior Kindle Ladd (2-1) pitched 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

In Game 2, OU freshman Jake Elliott was perfect through four innings before giving up runs in the sixth and seventh. Junior Robert Tasin (3-2) came on to get the win for the Sooners.

Neuse went 3-for-5 in the second game with one RBI.


The No. 20-ranked Oklahoma State baseball team had its four-game winning streak snapped Saturday. The Cowboys fell 16-6 to No. 25 Texas Tech at Stillwater’s Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
