College baseball: Sooners, Cowboys each win by rout

Oklahoma beats Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Oklahoma State thumps Alcorn State.

Oklahoma used seven pitchers Wednesday afternoon while blanking Arkansas-Pine Bluff 11-0 in college baseball at Mitchell Park in Norman.

The Sooner seven surrendered six hits and walked none. They struck out 11 while helping OU (4-1) win its fourth consecutive game.

Starter Corey Copping notched his first win of the season after throwing four innings. He threw 63 pitches with 41 going for strikes.

OU collected 10 hits, getting a home run each from Sheldon Neuse and Niko Buentello. Neuse's second homer of the season, this one in the first inning, gave the Sooners a 3-0 lead. Neuse moved from shortstop to the pitcher's mound in the ninth inning; he gave up a hit and struck out two.

Oklahoma next plays 11 a.m. Friday against The Citadel at the UCF Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

COWBOYS HAMMER BRAVES

Tim Arakawa, Donnie Walton, Dustin Williams and Bryan Case each had two hits Wednesday, helping No. 18-ranked Oklahoma State whip Alcorn State (Miss.) 16-1 at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.

Tanner Krietemeier add a three-run homer for OSU, which outscored the Braves 33-5 through two games.

The Cowboys used five pitchers, with starter Garrett Williams getting his first win of the spring. He allowed two hits and struck out five in 41/3 innings.

Oklahoma State (5-0) continues its homestand at 4 p.m. Friday against Oakland.
