Texas completed a three-game sweep of Oklahoma with an 8-1 Big 12 baseball win Sunday before 1,156 fans at Mitchell Park in Norman.

OU (23-14 overall, 4-5 Big 12) suffered its first conference sweep since 2012, also by the Longhorns.

Mark Payton had three doubles for Texas (29-8, 9-3), and Brooks Marlow added a home run as the Longhorns broke open a tight game with four runs over the middle innings.

The game was tied 1-1 when Texas took over with three runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Texas pitcher Nathan Thornhill was superb. He pitched a complete game while allowing just five hits and a walk. Thornhill struck out six while improving to 6-0 on the season.

Hector Lorenzana had two of the Sooners’ hits. He also had the only RBI, that coming in the third inning.

Oklahoma State wrapped up a sweep of West Virginia on Sunday with a 7-4 Big 12 victory before 1,287 fans at Hawley Field in Morgantown.

The Cowboys (26-10 overall, 8-4 Big 12) never trailed in the game; in fact, they charged to a 4-0 lead after a half-inning. Although West Virgnia (16-15, 2-6) drew within 4-3, OSU added a run in the fifth inning and two more in the eighth.

Tanner Krietemeier led Oklahoma State with three hits and two runs scored. Zach Fish added two hits and four RBIs.

The Cowboys next play Tuesday against Oklahoma in a game that will not count toward the Big 12 standings. The 6:30 p.m. contest will be at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.
