College basketball: Cheryl Miller accepts offer to become Langston coach

Miller, a Hall of Fame player at Southern California and a sideline reporter for TNT, will take over a competitive program that is coming off an NAIA Championships appearance. Miller had successful tenures as coach at USC and in the WNBA for the Phoenix Mercury.

Langston University will introduce Cheryl Miller as its new women’s basketball coach at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the school gymnasium.

Miller, a Hall of Fame player at Southern California and a sideline reporter for TNT, will take over a competitive program that is coming off an NAIA Championships appearance. Miller had successful tenures as coach at USC and in the WNBA for the Phoenix Mercury.

Langston athletic director Mike Garrett offered the job to Miller on Friday. Garrett is a former athletic director at USC.

A Langston press release said school president Kent Smith, players, students and the school band will attend the introduction on Wednesday.
