Flu scares
Several college football teams across the nation have been dealing with flu-like symptoms, including some confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus, commonly known as Swine flu. Here’s a look at some of the reported instances of flu-like symptoms affecting college football programs:

→Georgia: Before the Bulldogs opened in Stillwater, safety Makiri Pugh tested positive for the H1N1 virus, and quarterback Joe Cox was forced to travel separate from the team after struggling with flu-like symptoms.

→Florida: The defending national champions have been hit by the flu bug, including running back Jeff Demps, tight end Aaron Hernandez and defensive end Jermaine Cunningham. None of the Gators’ players has been diagnosed with Swine flu. The virus is hitting Gainsville extremely hard with as many as 40 percent of students projected to contract the virus.

→Ole Miss: The Rebels have had at least 27 players miss practice with flu-like symptoms.

→Wisconsin: Around 10 players had flu-like symptoms before the Badgers’ season opener.

→Duke: One player had a confirmed case of Swine flu in August, and several players have experienced flu-like symptoms.

→Washington State: After a large outbreak on campus, more than 15 Cougars players had flu-like symptoms before Washington State’s opener.
